- ➤ Prosperity Bank donated $6,500 to Meals on Wheels of Odessa to purchase $10 United Supermarkets gift cards for seniors, addressing holiday financial struggles. The cards were distributed on Sunday with meal deliveries. CBS7

- ➤ A West Texas family is mourning the loss of their two-year-old poodle, Stitch, who was attacked by loose dogs in its yard and is calling on local authorities to increase pet safety measures. NewsWest9
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ The ECISD naming committee for the new Career and Technical Education facility met last Thursday and is asking local residents to help choose a name via an online survey (which will stay open throughout the holidays and into the new year). Odessa American
- ➤ Odessa College is inviting a local artist to redesign its Jackrabbit mascot and will offer a $1,000 stipend with provided paint while the artist covers all other costs. The application deadline is January 12 and the winner will receive recognition from the college, the city, and Citywide Art Legacy. CBS7
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Two sections of Bonham Avenue are closed to traffic for a utility project by Edgardo Madrid and Associates near E. 42nd Street and E. 37th Street. The work is expected to finish Dec. 30, so drivers should allow extra travel time and use alternate routes. CBS7
- ➤ Solid Waste announced it will pause regular trash collection on Wednesday and Thursday for Christmas (for staff holiday leave) and resume on Friday, Dec. 26 during its busiest week while offering seven extra dumpster locations open from 9 A.M. starting Wednesday, Dec. 24 for holiday disposal.
