Good morning, Odessa.

This Thanksgiving week, local offices, stores, and restaurants have special hours; key places—like Walmart, Home Depot, and USPS—will be closed or have reduced hours.

Residents should check the updated list as more details will be added throughout the week.

The Junior League of Odessa is hosting horse‐drawn carriage rides through the holiday lights at Emerald Forest Estate from December 4 to December 12 with rides every 25 minutes from 6:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.—riders receive complimentary blankets and hot chocolate while tickets, which sell out quickly, are required.

Market Street in Odessa expects to charge about $50 for a ten-person Thanksgiving dinner this year while families prepare for holiday meals as grocery stores report stable pricing despite a 40 percent nationwide rise in turkey costs (USDA data confirmed this shift).

Store Director Kris Phillips said that after recent years when a full dinner cost over $60, prices leveled out and shoppers are saving by choosing store-brand items.

Midland International Air and Space Port said Thanksgiving week will see record air travel as passenger numbers are expected to rise, and Deputy Director Nick Krakovec advised travelers to arrive two hours before departure to avoid delays—longer parking searches and baggage wait times may occur. Officials also reminded passengers to use real ID to meet TSA rules.

MAF officials are urging travelers to prepare for the holiday rush as terminal expansion work will not impact holiday travel (the agency confirms existing schedules remain unchanged).
