- ➤ After a 43-day government shutdown ended Wednesday, the West Texas Food Bank in Odessa saw a 15 percent rise in help requests from government employees missing paychecks and SNAP recipients—now the bank seeks volunteers and donations as its holiday inventory drops to 19,000 boxes. CBS7
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Ms. Faught, a longtime seamstress at Permian High School, has retired after more than 50 years of work—she stitched playoff jerseys and even made a special 7th flag that flies at the school. She said her stiff fingers told her it was time to step away and has trained her replacement so she can still cheer on the Panthers from the stands. CBS7
- ➤ Ector County ISD hosts its annual conference for gifted and talented education today from 8:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at Ector College Prep Middle School. The event offers three learning tracks for teachers, parents and community members + features keynote speech by Andres A. Ruzo, a scientist known for his work on the Boiling River of the Amazon. CBS7
