- ➤ Odessa College announced the Once Upon a Fall book drive that will benefit Harmony Home Children's Advocacy Center. The event will take place on October 3 at 6:00 p.m. at OC Greenspace as they collect new or gently used books for kids from 0 to 17 and offer a bookmark decorating station and fall festivities. CBS7
- ➤ Today, OPD's Neighborhood Watch Meeting is held while a special council meeting is set for Thursday and Odessa Arts’ First Friday event is scheduled for Friday. The Ratliff Ranch Golf Links remain closed—OB’s Helping Hands Community Lawn Care Program and Keep Odessa Beautiful Campus Rivalry continue for local involvement. CBS7
BUSINESS NEWS
- ➤ UTPB received a $100,000 grant from ConocoPhillips to expand its Small Biz Builder program that helps local entrepreneurs launch and grow businesses. The program held its first session in Odessa with 30 graduates and will offer a new session in Carlsbad starting October 15—running for six weeks every Wednesday from 5 to 7 p.m. CBS7

- ➤ Texas Bucket List has earned four Lone Star Emmy Award nominations this year — its total nods now reach 28 since 2013. The show’s 25th season airs new episodes on Saturdays at 11:00 a.m. on KOSA and 12:30 p.m. on My30 KWWT. CBS7
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Texas Tech Permian Basin will host Mending Mental Gaps, an eight-week program for veterans to discuss war-themed literature and share their experiences supported by a National Endowment for the Humanities grant. Sessions will begin in Midland on October 2 from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. + in Odessa on October 6. CBS7
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Odessa will begin a full-depth reconstruction on Dorado Drive between N. Faudree Road and Mission Blvd on Monday, October 6. The project will reduce the roadway to one lane each way and add drainage upgrades and low-maintenance landscaping — with work expected to finish in January 2026. City of Odessa

- ➤ Today, Odessa Regional Medical Center's chief nursing officer Carol A. Cates warned residents to call 911 immediately if they notice stroke symptoms such as weakness, vision changes or difficulty speaking — stressing that quick treatment is vital to prevent severe disability. Odessa American
