  • City officials provided updated detour information for the Keep Odessa Beautiful project to guide drivers through ongoing road closures—residents should follow posted signs until the project is completed.  City of Odessa
  • A former Vander Ranch resident said they sold their home because water problems made living there difficult. Law firms representing affected residents will hold a town hall in October to address the water crisis—aiming to offer guidance and legal next steps.  NewsWest9

  • Ector County Library added a new bilingual book collection called Rincón de Libros that will be open until the end of the year—officials hope it becomes a permanent feature.  NewsWest9

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Odessa Police Department extended its condolences to DPS, Houston Police Department and the families of fallen officers Trooper Jerry Adamick Jr. and Officer Alex Roberts — honoring their decades of service. The OPD Honor Guard attended funeral services as both officers, one with over 20 years of military and police experience and the other with 14 years at Houston, were remembered for their sacrifice.  CBS7
  • Odessa City Councilman Gilbert Vasquez experienced severe chest pains during a meeting on Sept. 9 and underwent a triple bypass surgery after tests showed two major arterial blockages—he is now home and following a cardio fitness plan while focusing on recovery and family. Vasquez said he is grateful for the care he received and emphasized that anyone with similar symptoms should seek help immediately.  Odessa American
