GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Odessa City Council voted 6-0 on Wednesday night to raise the property tax rate from $0.466275 to $0.470700 per $100 of assessed valuation after a public hearing. The change is expected to generate $6.2 million more in revenue than last year, including $1.26 million from new properties on the tax rolls. Odessa American
- ➤ Odessa City Council Member At-Large Craig Stoker said the city is taking steps to address a growing homeless camp on a residential street — officials are reviewing strategies to manage the situation. NewsWest9
- ➤ The Odessa City Council will discuss Tuesday proposals to lease 200 vehicles for $5.8 million instead of spending $25 million to buy them, purchase $144,000 in extended warranties for solid waste vehicles and spend $700,000 to upgrade McKinney Park by adding features like new restrooms, seating and playing areas.
