  • Ollie’s Bargain Outlet is opening two new discount stores today in Odessa and Midland — both locations will hold ribbon cuttings at 8:45 a.m. and offer press interviews until 2:00 p.m.  CBS7

CRIME NEWS

  • An Odessa man, 38-year-old Ruben Ronquillo Ramirez Jr., was arrested Tuesday on suspicion of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon after police tied him to a December 15 shooting near East Maple Avenue and Tanglewood Lane where he chased a 37-year-old woman and her friend—he was released on a $100,000 bond.  Odessa American

  • Local leaders delivered laptops to students in Monahans during the week of Sept.8 to support their learning and digital safety. Representative Brooks Landgraf, Senator Kevin Sparks, AT&T, United Way of Odessa and the Monahans Chamber of Commerce worked together—these laptops came with tools and lessons to help keep students safe online.  NewsWest9
  • Today, the Better Business Bureau serving the Heart of Texas urges families to protect children’s online privacy while shopping for back-to-school supplies and clothes. They recommend reviewing online privacy settings—such as tracking social media accounts and using parental controls—to guard against phishing emails, hidden app fees, and unauthorized account creation.  Odessa American

  • Odessa City Council approved a revenue increase for the 2025-2026 budget + the change may raise property taxes for homeowners.  NewsWest9
  • Odessa Police Department will host the 2025 Emergency Preparedness Fair on Saturday, September 13 at the Ector County Coliseum—Barn A from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. The fair will offer lifesaving classes from Women’s Self Defense to C.R.A.S.E. between 10:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m, CPR and bleeding treatment from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m, and an animal adoption clinic by Odessa Animal Services for $27 cash only with additional resources from Fire Rescue, Dispatch, Code Enforcement, the Crime Scene Unit and Animal Control.  CBS7
