  • Odessa’s iconic Pepto Bismol house is painted gray while its stucco cures and will return to pink in a few months—Ivan Meissner, who has lived there since 1960, says the family remains committed to its classic look.  CBS7

  • Odessa police are investigating a rollover crash that occurred near E. I-20 east of E. Loop 338—both eastbound lanes were closed and drivers were advised to use alternate routes.  CBS7

  • After two years of closure, The HIVE Comics in Odessa has reopened at its new location—2103 North Grandview Avenue—after shutting down in August due to financial reasons.  NewsWest9

  • The Texas Commission on the Arts has named Odessa one of four new cultural districts in Texas, bringing the total to 57 and paving the way for the Odessa Arts District—which has theaters, galleries, and historic landmarks—to boost the local economy and celebrate its arts heritage.  CBS7

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Odessa College is launching a new part-time 18-month Licensed Vocational Nursing program for aspiring health care workers balancing jobs and personal duties—applications open October 3 and close October 31. The program requires a TEAS test and provides the same clinical experiences as the full-time option.  CBS7

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • On Tuesday a $1 million class action breach of contract lawsuit was filed by the Potts Law Firm against the City of Odessa and its water meter manufacturer—alleging that thousands of residents were overcharged due to faulty meters. The suit claims city officials continued back charging customers despite known errors and seeks a court order to stop billing until an investigation is completed.  Odessa American
  • Odessa city crews will work on Dixie Boulevard today—reducing it to one lane in each direction between 52nd and 56th streets. The project will last about four weeks if the weather holds.  CBS7
