COMMUNITY NEWS

  • The Permian Basin Fair and Expo returns for its 49th year today at the Ector County Coliseum and will run until September 7. Visitors will enjoy favorite attractions and new family fun—such as rides, a Wild West show, live music, and a stunt team—in a ten-day celebration.  CBS7
  • The 2025 Emergency Preparedness Fair will be held on Saturday, September 13th from 10am-2pm at the Ector County Coliseum at 4201 Andrews Highway, offering free training and resources for emergency readiness. MCH/OFR will offer Stop the Bleed classes while OPD holds Women’s Self-Defense and C.R.A.S.E. trainings—Odessa Animal Services will host an Adoption Clinic for $27 cash only.  City of Odessa

  • The Odessa Police Department is investigating three males connected to burglaries at the Marriott Hotel and Conference Center at 305 E 5th St, and residents who recognize the suspects in surveillance footage are asked to call 432-335-3333 or Crime Stoppers at 432-333-TIPS referencing Case 25-9000756.  Odessa American

EDUCATION NEWS

  • A new Texas law called the Parental Bill of Rights requires schools to get a parent's permission before students receive any counseling services for college, military, or mental health issues— the law will take effect Sept. 1 and gives parents control over what their children are taught.
