Here's your local news at a glance for Monday, the 14th of July.
Good morning, Odessa.
Today, Odessa Police Department is joining TxDOT's Move Over, Slow Down initiative—drivers must either move over a lane or slow down by 20 mph when approaching vehicles with flashing lights.
The campaign runs through August 3 to protect law enforcement officers, first responders, and roadway workers.
July is a quiet month for gardening since it is not time to plant, prune, or fertilize; local gardeners are urged to protect plants from heat and sudden storms by watering deeply, adding mulch, and providing shade.
Gardeners are also advised to deadhead spent blooms, stake plants against strong winds, monitor fast-drying container plants, and start planning fall gardens (by sowing cool-season seeds indoors).
