🏘️ Community
Local law enforcement in Odessa are preparing for peaceful No Kings Day protests that will start 10 a.m. tomorrow along JBS Parkway and 42nd, while police stand ready to act if the events become disruptive.
Organizer Stacy Navarez said the protest is meant to support the immigrant community and reject traditional symbols of authority.
Meals on Wheels Odessa celebrated Helping Hands Volunteers by unveiling its new national logo on Friday—this change aligns the group with Meals on Wheels of America ahead of its 50th year.
Last year, the non-profit had 600 volunteers who helped support its mission.

Baker Hughes reported last Friday that the Permian Basin rig count fell by two to 273 rigs, down from 309 a year ago, while the national rig count dropped by four to 555 rigs.
Oil prices rose, with the regional benchmark increasing to $69.46 per barrel (up $8.40 from last Friday’s close).
🏛️ Government
TxDOT’s contractor shifted eastbound I-20 frontage road traffic to one travel lane with concrete barriers—access to driveways is maintained—for a project extending until Spring 2027.
I-20 main lanes at Loop 338 will be closed from 7 p.m. on June 21 until 9 a.m. on June 22—traffic will be detoured to the frontage road—to allow barrier placement.
The Permian Basin Petroleum Association backed Senate Bill 7 and House Joint Resolution 7 to help meet Texas’s long-term water needs by proposing a constitutional amendment on the Nov.
4 ballot that will commit $1 billion each year into the Texas Water Fund, adding to $2.5 billion set aside under SB 7. Lawmakers also passed measures to modernize water infrastructure and clarify oil and gas liability—steps that will support future investment in the region.
The Texas DPS Foundation is hosting its 2nd Annual Barbecue Fundraiser today at 1 p.m.—energy companies are cooking all day with a BBQ competition, raffle prizes, and live music from Wade Bowen later in the evening.
Funds raised will support emergency financial aid for DPS employees.
