ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • A 31-year-old man from Odessa, Brandon Matthew Renteria, is accused of beating his girlfriend at a Walgreens on West University Boulevard early Tuesday—leaving her with broken eye sockets, a broken nose, and severe facial swelling—and he was arrested for aggravated assault with bail set at $45,000.  Odessa American

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • During the city council meeting Tuesday night, Ector County Judge Dustin Fawcett announced that an agreement was reached to build the new courthouse on the current U.S. Post Office site, with plans to sign a memorandum with the Postal Service once it moves into a new space in the parking garage—this avoids a costlier vertical build. Council members also discussed managing downtown impact fees while approving measures such as a $5 million housing project and funding for new officer vests.  Odessa American
