  • Odessa’s 33rd Annual Police Athletic League—now in its 33rd year—is underway at Floyd Gwin Park where over 80 kids aged 8 to 11 take part in sports and field trips with police officers Monday through Friday for four weeks. The program aims to build trust and teach respect, teamwork and responsibility to help keep kids engaged during the summer.  CBS7

  • Kelly Grimsley Auto Group filed a response on May 27 in federal court denying that it owed over $13 million on 405 vehicles while admitting to failing to meet payment terms and maintain insurance on Hyundai Capital America vehicles— the dealership said it is working with customers to resolve issues related to unpaid fees and taxes.  NewsWest9

  • A 23-year-old Odessa woman was arrested Saturday after her father's mistress said she attacked her with a baseball bat on May 6 — doorbell camera footage backed parts of the account and police booked her on burglary-related charges before she posted $51,500 in bonds.  Odessa American
  • An Odessa woman got road rash when she tried to retrieve her Ford Expedition from her ex-boyfriend on the 3100 block of Andrews Highway at 4:30 p.m. Sunday—he drove off while she was in the car and was arrested on suspicion of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon with a $25,000 bond.  Odessa American

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Odessa is launching the SeeClickFix app later this month to let residents report non-emergency issues like potholes and illegal dumping—reports are sent to the right department and tracked until resolved.  CBS7
  • Today, the Odessa City Council will meet at City Hall to review the completed FY 2022-2023 audit aimed at restoring the city’s credit ratings—council members will also consider several zone changes including a proposal for a new swim school, a five-year contract for generator maintenance, the replacement of 20 police bulletproof vests, and ways to help Ector County avoid impact fees on new developments.  Odessa American
  • Ector County Commissioners will meet at 10 a.m. today in the county annex to consider extending the disaster declaration for Pleasant Farms after severe weather disrupted the area last week—Judge Dustin Fawcett said the extension could last up to 30 days while county crews continue helping residents with debris removal.  Odessa American
