ECONOMY NEWS

  • Record oil production in West Texas kept the nation’s supply stable amid global tension. Experts said nearly half the daily oil came from the Permian Basin (near Odessa) with fewer rigs than before, though a further drop in rigs may slow output in the future.  Odessa American

EDUCATION NEWS

  • FAST from UTPB is building a rocket with two parachutes & a motor to reach 10,000 feet as they prepare to represent the Permian Basin at the International Rocket Engineering Competition from June 15-20 in West Texas, inspired by Artemis II’s return to Earth.  CBS7

HEALTH NEWS

  • Medical Center Health System held its sixth annual memorial service honoring organ and tissue donors — part of National Donate Life Month — at the Donor Memorial Garden outside the Wheatley Stewart Medical Pavilion, where families were recognized for supporting their loved ones’ wishes.  CBS7
  • Healthcare executives and local advocates gathered Wednesday at the Rural Health Summit in the Permian Basin (including leaders from Texas Oncology and Midland Health) to plan new strategies so residents can access specialty care closer to home; they will focus on recruitment and infrastructure improvements over the next year and a half.  NewsWest9
