ECONOMY NEWS

  • Odessa Arts presented a study yesterday showing that in 2024 the local arts industry generated $33.5 million in economic activity — $15.7 million from arts organizations and $17.8 million from event attendees — and supported 397 jobs. The study also noted that the arts account for 2.5% of Texas’ economy.  CBS7

  • Ector County ISD’s Principal Fellowship program—funded by a TEA grant—has built local leadership over three years by partnering with Texas Tech University and UTPB to help teachers earn a leadership certificate in one year. HEALTH NEWS

  • U.S. measles cases have more than doubled compared to all of last year as Texas recorded 59 new cases since Tuesday, bringing the state total to 481 in 19 West Texas counties. The outbreak in undervaccinated communities has led to 14 new hospitalizations and two unvaccinated deaths—raising concerns over further spread.  Odessa American
