- ➤ CASA of West Texas is hosting events for Child Abuse Prevention Month to support children in safe, stable homes. The events include Lunch + Learn sessions on April 2, 9, 16, and 21, a volunteer Swear-In on April 6, and Go Blue Day on April 10 at the county courthouse. CBS7
- ➤ Amanda Green launched a Little Free Seed Library network to let neighbors pick up native Permian Basin seed packets and grow low-maintenance plants. The project began at her Midland home and has expanded to several local spots across Texas — refilled many times daily to support community gardens. CBS7
- ➤ Keep Odessa Beautiful is merging its disposal and recycling station to offer one convenient facility. Residents are asked to use the temporary west-side entrance on 42nd Street (between Animal Services and the Keep Odessa Beautiful facility) during the transition. CBS7
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Odessa College received a $100,000 grant from Texas Mutual Insurance for its Safety Institute—helping over 900 students learn CPR, early childhood safety, and energy industry practices in the Permian Basin. This funding marks the eighth consecutive year of support. CBS7
- ➤ Odessa College today was named Texas’ only lead college for a national initiative to boost bachelor’s degree quality programs. It will use the framework to enhance its proven ExxonMobil BAAS in Leadership and Management + Entrepreneurship program and share best practices with other community colleges. Odessa American
