Fields Edge is building a new chicken run to supply fresh eggs and income for local residents (including formerly homeless neighbors) after losing its last flock to illness.
The run will be made taller (to keep wild birds from spreading disease) and meet growing community demand.
Layla, a 4-year-old chihuahua mix, is looking for a new home at the Humane Society of Odessa at 2230 W.
Sycamore — all pets need a spay/neuter contract and the adoption fee starts at $75.
Grand Companions spotlights Schnitzel, a playful 10-month-old who came as a puppy and now seeks a forever family in our community.
Schnitzel is neutered, microchipped and vaccinated—he loves playing and getting along with other dogs.
Violet is a 3-year-old female terrier mix available for adoption at the Humane Society of Odessa.
Residents can visit the shelter at 2230 W. Sycamore or call 432-257-4311 to adopt her—adoption fees start at $75 and include a required spay/neuter contract.
🚧 Accidents
High winds on March 30 made power lines spark loud like an explosion at Ninth Street and North Adams Avenue when a bird broke a crossarm with a transformer—Oncor Electric Delivery crews fixed the pole—and power was restored for about 220 people.
🌲 Environment
Master Gardeners explained that invasive species like zebra mussels harm native plant habitats and local water supplies – Lake Ivie and water pressure in Midland have been affected.
They urged residents to visit the Texas Invasives website or call the AgriLife office in Odessa at 498-4071 for more details.
