- ➤ Odessa Mayor Cal Hendrick led 750 volunteers on March 22 in cleaning 750 spots across the city—collecting over 60 bags of trash from roads, parks, and other areas. He hopes to hold cleanup events monthly and plans to work with local officials and businesses to expand efforts throughout the Permian Basin. Odessa American

- ➤ Gasoline prices in Midland-Odessa rose 23.6 cents per gallon in the last week to average $2.81 on Monday based on a GasBuddy survey of 156 stations. Prices increased 4.1 cents from last month and were 33.5 cents lower than last year—national averages rose by 6.3 cents during the same period. Odessa American

- ➤ Today, the Odessa City Council met in executive session after their regular meeting to review 61 city manager applications and narrow the list to 27 candidates with the required qualifications, planning to further reduce the field to 10 then 3 to 5 candidates over about 30 days. The council also will discuss city finances at the 3 p.m. and 6 p.m. sessions—addressing water treatment plant repairs and a proposed 1.36 million dollar purchase of side-loader garbage trucks—before inviting public input. - ➤ The City of Odessa received its March sales tax check for $6,212,470.60 with $4,969,976.48 going to the city and $1,242,494.12 going to the Odessa Development Corporation—this represents a 19.56% increase over last March and a year-to-date total that is 29.25% above budget while 10.14% below last year. - ➤ Today at 10 a.m. at the county annex, Ector County Commissioners will meet to standardize speed limits—35 mph for neighborhoods, 45 mph on thoroughfares and 55 mph on highways—and to lower limits on 16th Street to 50 mph, on FM 1936 to 45 mph, and on the road from 87th Street to County Road West to 35 mph with a new four-way stop at Heather and Claymoor. They will also discuss Odessa College’s plan to care for meteorite specimens and review proposals on a game room appeal and election judge appointments. Odessa American
