- ➤ The Odessa Police Department said on March 18th that they responded to several crashes caused by drivers not yielding when exiting private drives—reminding drivers to look both ways and wait until it is safe before pulling out. City of Odessa

- ➤ A lawsuit filed by Quma Martinez Carrillo’s family alleges that on June 7, 2024, a Lithia salesman test-driving a Dodge Challenger drove at speeds up to 124 mph and collided with a Honda Accord at University Boulevard and Oakwood Drive, killing Carrillo and seriously injuring a passenger while a dealership employee with a 0.13 blood alcohol level and cocaine in his system was blamed for not stopping the dangerous drive — the suit claims the dealership was negligent in handling safety protocols. - ➤ Authorities said Tuesday near the 2500 block of West 87th Street that a dispute ended with Benjamin Scott Ryan fatally stabbed and his mother wounded while trying to save him—suspect Zackary Dewain Hunt was arrested on suspicion of murder. Odessa American

- ➤ The Literacy Coalition of the Permian Basin is expanding adult education and ESL classes to meet growing workforce needs — a push spurred by a 2022 assessment showing low literacy rates.
