- ➤ The Odessa Police Department warns people about an internet scam where a suspect pretends to sell dachshund puppies using a fake website and the Odessa Animal Shelter’s address — the suspect uses a fake name and account and asks for payment by Apple Pay or Apple Pay gift cards that the shelter never uses, so residents should report any suspicious offers. - ➤ A 46-year-old Odessa man was arrested Thursday after he admitted to stabbing his younger brother during a drive on North Marco Avenue—officers said the 44-year-old victim called dispatch from Pinecrest Avenue after sustaining cuts to his arm and chest. Odessa American
- ➤ A West Odessa man was arrested last month on suspicion of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon after he stabbed his mother's boyfriend during a disturbance call on Feb. 25th at 1:15 p.m. in the 6100 block of West Laverne—he remains in Ector County jail with a $50,000 bond. Odessa American
- ➤ Odessa Police reported nearly 26% fewer violent crimes and 6.5% fewer property crimes last year as the numbers dropped from 2,620 to 1,942 and from 3,001 to 2,804—Chief Gerke said the department increased patrols and community outreach to target hot spots. Odessa American

- ➤ GasBuddy’s survey of 156 stations shows average gasoline prices in Midland-Odessa dropped 10.9 cents in the past week, reaching $2.58 per gallon on Monday. Prices are 12.9 cents lower than a month ago and 61.3 cents lower than a year ago — with the cheapest station at $2.42 and the most expensive at $2.96 per gallon. Odessa American

- ➤ Interim City Manager Richard Morton said Deputy City Manager Agapito Bernal left last month because of a difference in management while records show four city employees filed complaints accusing him of bullying and unprofessional conduct. Former City Manager John Beckmeyer hired attorney Tommy Sheen at $425 an hour to investigate Bernal—this investigation revealed recordings of confrontations that raised further questions about how his actions affected staff.
