- ➤ Odessa Animal Services — a local shelter — seeks volunteers to care for animals awaiting permanent homes. Interested community members can apply by scanning a QR code or contacting the shelter. CBS7
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Preschoolers at Primrose School of Midland at Westridge donated 641 books to Big Brothers Big Sisters through Og’s Bountiful Book Drive on Tuesday, March 17. The drive supports local literacy and honors a tradition begun for National Reading Month (2021). CBS7
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Odessa and Texas Trees Foundation planted 91 trees at Floyd Gwin Park today, with help from volunteers including Odessa Fire Rescue, Code Enforcement and Police. Councilman Chris Hanie spoke as the project brought more shade and cleaner air to the park — a step toward a greener future. CBS7
- ➤ Climavision, a national weather technology company, is working with six Texas counties (Reeves, Jackson, Lamar, Hamilton, Brazos, and Scurry) to close radar gaps that help detect severe weather such as winds, rain and hurricanes. The radars aid emergency management and Climavision plans to fill eight more gaps soon. CBS7
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Drivers on westbound I-20 between FM 1788 and JBS Parkway will face overnight lane closures from 7:00 p.m. Friday until 9:00 a.m. Saturday for a traffic switch, and detour routes will be in effect. CBS7
