- ➤ West Texas ranchers are preparing to protect cattle and livestock as a hard freeze nears, with extra focus on feed, water, and shelter (especially for young animals). NewsWest9
- ➤ A small oil company leaked produced water that has contaminated a water source near Midland — a source used by the Colorado River Municipal Water District for Odessa. Cleanup efforts began over two decades ago and continue today to secure safe water supplies for affected areas. Odessa American
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ TxDOT in Odessa has begun brining roadways, including a stretch of Interstate 20 from Penwell to Martin County, to help keep roads clear before severe winter weather hits. The department will keep crews on duty all weekend and HERO trucks will assist stranded drivers if needed. CBS7

- ➤ On Thursday, Permian boys' and girls' basketball teams swept Midland Legacy at Permian Fieldhouse — the Lady Panthers won a 31-28 overtime thriller and the boys secured a 51-48 win that lifted their district standing. Midland Legacy is set to host Odessa High next. NewsWest9
- ➤ Howard College women's basketball secured an 8th win (73-66) against Odessa College on Thursday at the OC Sports Complex, while in the men's game, Odessa upset Howard 65-59, ending a 17-game win streak.
